Fondation Émergence is a non-profit organization based in Montréal that works to eradicate transphobia and homophobia. Laurent McCutcheon founded it in 2000, and since then, it has sought to raise public awareness of the reality faced by LGBTQ+ and gender-diverse individuals. As a registered charity in Canada, it ensures accountability and transparency within the organization. Some of its core programs are:
- International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (May 17): Launched in 2003, this flagship awareness day is now followed and honoured in over 60 countries
- Pour que vieillir soit gai: Programs supporting LGBTQ+ seniors in long‑term care
- ProAllié: Promoting workplace inclusion training, this program supports allies and LGBTQ+ employees
- Famille Choisie: Assistance for family caregivers within the LGBTQ+ community
