These Terms and Conditions govern subscriptions, purchases, event registrations, award nominations, advertising and sponsored content provided by Cmarketing Inc., publisher of CanadianSME Small Business Magazine. By buying or registering for any of these services, you agree to these terms. Use of the website itself is covered by our Terms of Use.
1.Subscriptions
The digital magazine and our newsletters are free. Print subscriptions, where offered, renew according to the term shown at checkout. You can cancel any subscription at any time; newsletters include an unsubscribe link in every issue.
2.Prices, taxes and payment
All prices are in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise. Applicable GST, HST, PST or QST is added at checkout based on your province. Payment is due at the time of purchase or by the date on your invoice. Overdue advertising invoices may be charged interest of 1.5% per month (18% per year).
3.Event registrations
- Tickets for the Small Business Summit, Small Business Expo and other events are personal to the registrant but can be transferred to a colleague at no charge before the event by contacting us.
- Refunds are available up to 30 days before the event, less a processing fee. Within 30 days, tickets are non-refundable but remain transferable.
- If we cancel an event, you will receive a full refund. If an event is rescheduled or moved online, your ticket will be honoured for the new format or refunded on request.
- Programmes, speakers and venues may change. We will make reasonable efforts to notify registrants of significant changes.
- Events may be photographed and recorded. By attending, you consent to appearing in event photography and video used for CanadianSME promotion.
4.Award nominations
Nominations for the CanadianSME Small Business Awards must be accurate and submitted with the nominee’s knowledge. Judging decisions are final. We may verify information, disqualify entries that are inaccurate or incomplete, and publish winners’ and finalists’ names, photos and business descriptions.
5.Advertising and sponsored content
- Advertising and sponsorship bookings are confirmed by a signed insertion order or proposal, which forms part of these terms.
- Advertisers are responsible for ensuring their materials are accurate, lawful and do not infringe anyone’s rights, and comply with the Competition Act and Canadian advertising standards.
- Sponsored and partner content is always clearly labelled as such. CanadianSME retains editorial control over how sponsored content is presented and may decline or remove materials that do not meet our standards.
- Cancellations made less than 30 days before a campaign starts may be charged in full.
6.Partner offers
Exclusive offers on our website are provided by third-party partners. Each partner is solely responsible for its offer, products and services, and for honouring the stated terms. CanadianSME is not a party to any transaction between you and a partner.
7.Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Cmarketing Inc.’s total liability for any claim relating to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that product or service. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits.
8.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes will be heard in the courts of Ontario. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws in your province.
