For a small Canadian retailer, the hardest thing to buy is credibility. When a customer weighs an unfamiliar online store against a known brand, they usually choose the known brand, regardless of the product.

Best Buy Marketplace lets smaller sellers borrow that credibility.

Best Buy Marketplace is a curated platform allowing approved third-party sellers to list and sell products directly on BestBuy.ca. The company describes it as a virtual shopping mall where top-rated sellers offer their products alongside Best Buy’s own assortment. For sellers, it means access to millions of technology-focused Canadian shoppers on what Best Buy positions as the country’s most trusted retail platform.

Borrowed Trust as the Core Benefit

Best Buy is direct about what it offers sellers: the chance to grow their reputation selling with Canada’s top tech retailer, leveraging brand awareness the company describes as three times greater than its closest competitor.

Customer-facing safeguards make that trust transferable. Best Buy handles all Marketplace transactions directly, so sellers never see payment information. Best Buy’s own customer support team is available for all Marketplace purchases. Best Buy vets, approves, and invites sellers based on quality, reliability, and performance.

A shopper buying from a small seller on the platform gets Best Buy’s protections, removing the hesitation that costs independent retailers sales elsewhere.

Fast to Launch, Supported Through Growth

Best Buy has structured onboarding to be quick. Sellers apply, get approved, and sign an agreement, with the Marketplace team guiding them through store setup, payment account configuration, and integration tools. Selling can begin as early as two days after approval.

New sellers then receive additional support through a 90-day Seller Growth Program covering best practices for store setup, order management, and boosting sales.

Experienced sellers continue through the Seller Dashboard, which delivers sales insights, market trends, and actionable analytics to guide strategy. Best Buy also publishes seller guides, runs webinars, and provides ongoing tips and events.

For a small business without in-house e-commerce expertise, structured onboarding plus continuing education is worth as much as the sales channel itself.

An Ecosystem of Integration Partners

One of the Marketplace’s practical strengths is the partner network built around it.

For e-commerce management and workflow automation, sellers can work with Shopify, Rithum, Sellercloud, Feedonomics, Cymbio, eDesk, and others. Shipping and fulfillment partners span ShipStation, Purolator International, Canada Post, and GoBolt, covering warehousing through tracking and analytics. Payment providers including Convera and PingPong enable secure domestic and international multi-currency transfers.

For a small seller, these connections eliminate custom development. A retailer already running Shopify can list on Best Buy Marketplace without rebuilding their operation, with stock and pricing kept synchronized automatically.

Marketing Reach at Scale

Marketplace sellers gain access to Best Buy’s promotional programs and seasonal events, including Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Labour Day, putting their products in front of high traffic during the periods when purchase intent peaks.

Sellers can take full control of their own campaigns using tools such as Sponsored Products, or use Managed Campaign services where Best Buy handles campaign management while the seller focuses on the business.

One seller described the effect directly: the impact on their overall business had been phenomenal, spanning both order volume during events like Black Friday and the credibility gained from association with a trusted brand.

Open to a Range of Sellers

Best Buy says it is open to partnering with private-label sellers, refurbishing companies, and global brands alike, a notably broad invitation.

The inclusion of refurbishers is worth highlighting. Refurbished electronics have historically struggled to earn consumer trust, and a marketplace that vets sellers and stands behind transactions addresses that barrier directly, opening a viable channel for circular-economy businesses.

Marketplace charges a monthly platform fee plus commission on each item sold, with rates varying by product category.

Beyond Marketplace: Best Buy Business

Best Buy Business has served Canadian businesses of all sizes for over 20 years. With account managers from coast to coast, Best Buy Business has partnered with its customers to source and support the best technology and services that drive Canadian business.

Whether an organization shops directly with an account manager or via the dedicated online shopping portal, customers will find the tech they need at business-level pricing and with expert support and advice to help make the right choice.

This fast-growing part of Best Buy Canada continues to find new ways to partner with and be accessible to business customers.

A Canadian First: Best Buy Business Centres Open in the GTA

This fall, Best Buy Canada takes that commitment a step further by opening its first-ever Best Buy Business Centres, with two locations in the GTA:

Markham — grand opening October 15th, 2026
Heartland, Mississauga — grand opening November 19th, 2026

The Business Centres are dedicated store-within-a-store spaces featuring business-grade products not available in regular Best Buy Canada stores. Business customers can meet one-on-one with business advisors, see and test commercial-grade technology and get support with everything from procurement to AV installation and device lifecycle management. Each centre includes interactive demos dedicated Best Buy Business advisors, and professional services.

On the floor, business owners will find devices from brands including Apple, Jabra, HP, Lenovo, Square, Samsung and Xerox, among others, and can experience technology spanning computing, printing, scanning, networking, conferencing, digital signage and POS systems.

The format is built for businesses of all sizes. Companies often need more than a standard retail visit can offer, but they lack the dedicated IT and procurement teams large enterprises rely on. The Business Centres are designed to fill that space, bringing enterprise-level guidance to all businesses.

“Our Business Centres are designed to make those decisions easier by giving organizations of all sizes a place to connect with expert advisors, experience and compare technology firsthand and find the right solutions to support where their business is headed.”

Because these are the first two locations of their kind in Canada, business owners in Peel and York regions will be among the first in the country to experience the format. Best Buy is inviting GTA business owners, entrepreneurs, public sector and procurement decision-makers to visit the Markham or Heartland Mississauga locations to learn more.

On the supplier side, Best Buy says it is actively seeking more suppliers to build meaningful partnerships and create growth opportunities for diverse businesses, with the explicit aim of improving the economic wellbeing of the communities it serves.

Why It Matters

Canadian small businesses face a reach problem and a trust problem at the same time, and solving either one on its own is expensive.

Best Buy Marketplace addresses both at once for sellers: millions of shoppers, transaction protections that transfer credibility to unfamiliar sellers, structured onboarding, an integration ecosystem, and promotional reach no independent retailer could buy alone.

For businesses buying technology, the new Business Centres offer something equally valuable: expert, face-to-face guidance and hands-on access to business-grade equipment, without needing an enterprise-sized IT department.

For Ontario businesses selling products that fit the assortment, Marketplace is a channel worth evaluating seriously. And for GTA businesses looking to equip their teams, a visit to Markham or Heartland Mississauga this fall is a good place to start.
