What does winning the CanadianSME National Business Award mean to you and your organization?
Winning the award is not only a great honour but confirmation and affirmation that we are doing all the right things in order for our business to be successful. It has provided our team and clients with a renewed level of energy and hope. Working in the construction industry is not easy and there have been many ups and downs. During the time of a major recession, we have managed to continue growing our business and it shows that if you get creative anything is possible.
What piece of advice would you give to entrepreneurs?
The best piece of advice that we can offer, is perseverance. There are going to be many sleepless nights, dark days and times when you feel like it is not worth it. You will want to throw the towel in and think that it is better to go and work for someone again as you will believe that you don’t need to deal with the high-stress levels that you will be exposed to. There will be days when no one supports your dream. The banks and financial institutions will turn their backs because of the volatility of the economy. Work will be scarce, good employees will be hard to find, lack of work, which will result in highly competitive pricing, but always remember why you started the business in the first place. Being an entrepreneur is a lonely place. Surround yourself with people that believe in you, look to Industry leaders that can offer sound advice. You have a dream and you can achieve anything that you set your mind to.
