What is your key advice to small business owners during these challenging times? And what steps should they take to keep their small business afloat during the current crisis?

Small business owners have one key advantage moving forward–they’ve already started a business. Once an entrepreneur, always an entrepreneur.

My advice for small business owners is to look back at what worked, what was challenging, what drove you to succeed in the first place, and adapt those lessons and decisions to the world and your industry today.

I’m not saying start over, but revisit your business plan, because now is the time to pivot and diversify. That back-burner project to better manage your business process (sales/marketing/hr)? Now you can give it your undivided attention. Be it in life or at work, 2020 has thrown us all a curveball, but it’s tough times like these that allow business owners to see the forest through the trees. Don’t sit by and try to wait this thing out, rather develop and deploy business strategies that work for you in good times and bad based on the experience of your peers in your industry.
