1. What does winning the CanadianSME National Business Award mean to you and your organization?

Winning the CanadianSME National Business Awards for Best Place to Work and Small Business of the Year (Up to 100 Employees) is a true honour. It humbled us to be recognized in two categories in a national awards program. Our team is genuinely proud to belong to the DPM family, and the culture and values that we live day in and day out. Being recognized by a national organization is extremely meaningful and validates why we are committed to a strong culture. 2. What piece of advice would you give to entrepreneurs?

Sometimes it’s the fear of stepping over the edge, the fear of the unknown, that holds you back from starting a business. First, make sure you have a business with products or services that other people want to buy. Then, believe in yourself and make it happen, because the best part about building a business is watching the team work together to solve problems and come up with innovative solutions for clients.  I wanted to create a culture I wasn’t seeing with some of my other employers in the past. A lot of our focus on culture and core values is having everyone be part of the equation. We spend a lot of time on engaging staff.
