Shavonne Hasfal-McIntosh is the Director of DEI at Wealthsimple., leading a team that assists the company in attracting, expanding, and retaining a wide range of employees, focusing on historically underrepresented groups in the tech industry.

Shavonne also sits on Manifesto’s Board of Directors, a not-for-profit organization that creates spaces that inspire, develop, and amplify diverse communities of young people through the arts, culture, and media.

She also serves on the board of Invest Ottawa, Canada’s capital’s principal economic development organization for knowledge-based sectors.

Shavonne believes in community and culture’s power and ensuring that everyone feels included, appreciated, and heard. She cultivates a high-impact and inclusive environment by empowering everyone to own their culture.

As a community builder, educator, speaker, and diversity, equity, and inclusion professional, she leads a team that guides diversity and equality initiatives that advance inclusion. Hence, employees feel valued for their authentic voices and talents and are empowered to reach their full potential.

In addition, she is the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Wealthsimple, a Canadian-born fintech company whose mission is to democratize wealth by giving the financial tools of the rich to everyone to build the world’s most human financial company.

As a transformational change agent, she has experience navigating alternative paths, which has served as the foundation for her work in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI/DBI). She knows there is no one-size-fits-all for bringing DEI or DBI into your organization in a meaningful and intentional way and has spent her career working with leading brands to find the right ways to bring DEI/DBI into their organizations, helping them stick, scale, and succeed.

She is a developer who recognizes and cultivates the potential in others. As a result, she can spot areas that need improvement and derive satisfaction from these improvements.

She is a connector who sees how things connect and refuses to believe that things are just the result of coincidence.

She is a team player who finds deep satisfaction in working hard with others toward a collective goal.

As a strong communicator, she understands the balance between active listening and strong engagement. In addition, she is a strong conversationalist who can easily find the right words for the right moments.

She collaborates with people tired of approaching DEI and DBI in the standard manner, connecting and talking about how to bring real systemic change to organizations in a way that works for your business.

Shavonne is an active conference speaker, handling topics like “Championing a Culture of Inclusion” and “Networking,” and sits on boards dedicated to creating accessibility and innovation in tech, entrepreneurship, and the arts.
