Sterling Global Financial Sweeps Mortgage Funds Category at 2026 Canadian Hedge Fund Awards

Sterling Mortgage Income Fund takes first place across all four return periods

Sterling Global Financial’s flagship Sterling Mortgage Income Fund swept the Mortgage Funds category at the 2026 Canadian Hedge Fund Awards, earning first place in all four return periods: one, three, five, and ten years.

The achievement follows two first-place finishes in 2025, bringing the fund’s total to six first-place honours over two consecutive years and highlighting its performance across both short- and long-term investment periods.

The Sterling Mortgage Income Fund earned the following first-place rankings, based on performance through June 30, 2026:

  • 1st place – One-Year Average Annual Return: 14.40%
  • 1st place – Three-Year Average Annual Return: 13.41%
  • 1st place – Five-Year Average Annual Return: 14.15%
  • 1st place – Ten-Year Average Annual Return: 11.32%

The rankings were determined from a field of 31 qualified Canadian mortgage funds. Sterling’s ten-year annualized return of 11.32% was nearly double the Mortgage Funds category average of 5.86% over the same period.

“These awards are particularly meaningful because they recognize performance across multiple investment periods, not just a single strong year,” said David Kosoy, Executive Chairman and Founder of Sterling Global Financial. “We’re incredibly proud of our team and the disciplined investment approach that has enabled us to deliver consistent returns, even through periods of market volatility. Earning first place across all four return periods is a tremendous achievement, and we’re deeply grateful to the advisors and investors who have placed their trust in us over the past decade.”

The Sterling Mortgage Income Fund focuses on private real estate credit, investing primarily in a diversified portfolio of real estate-backed mortgages. Through disciplined underwriting and active investment management, the fund seeks to generate consistent income while emphasizing capital preservation, offering investors exposure to an alternative asset class beyond traditional public markets.

Presented by Alternative IQ, the Canadian Hedge Fund Awards recognize investment performance across Canada’s alternative investment industry. A total of 321 Canadian hedge funds were included in the 2026 program, with winners determined solely through quantitative performance data collected and tabulated by Fundata Canada. The awards involve no nominations or subjective judging.
