Sudbury Teen Publishes Global Book Featuring 100 Youth Ideas From More Than 25 Countries

A project launched by a 17-year-old student from Greater Sudbury has grown into an international publication connecting young innovators from around the world.

Josiah Pinheiro, founder of Global100Ideas, has released the first edition of 100 Ideas for the Future, an ISBN-registered book featuring 100 selected submissions from a global initiative that received 150 entries from more than 25 countries.

Global100Ideas gives young people a simple way to turn an idea into published work. Participants submit one idea in exactly 100 words, and the strongest entries are selected for publication in an ISBN-registered book. It gives students credible recognition they can use in university applications, resumes, LinkedIn, etc.

“Young people are always told that they’re the future, but many are still waiting for someone to take their ideas seriously. I made Global100Ideas so there’s a credible first opportunity to prove that great ideas can come from anywhere.”

Josiah Pinheiro, Founder

The initiative got feedback from organizations in the education and innovation sectors. After reviewing the project, HundrED, a Finland-based education nonprofit operating in more than 100 countries, described Global100Ideas as “very interesting” and “a wonderful catalogue of ideas.”

Global100Ideas has also benefited from guidance and support from accomplished student leaders, including Sparsh Roy, a researcher at MIT where he focuses on computational sciences and AI/ML, and Rhythm Bazari, Founder of Minorities in STEM, a global nonprofit dedicated to expanding STEM opportunities for underrepresented students.

The arrival of the first printed copies marks an important milestone as the initiative prepares to launch its next submission cycle and publish its second edition.

Josiah Pinheiro is happy to talk about the inspiration behind Global100Ideas, the publication process, and the impact the initiative is having on students across the globe.
