The Founding of Securiv: Trust Before a Business Plan

Securiv Solutions was launched in October 2021, as Manitoba was navigating its way out of the most disruptive phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. But the circumstances of its founding were unlike most startups. Rex didn’t begin with a pitch deck or a cold prospecting list; he began with a phone call.  A former client, familiar with Rex’s work over the years, reached out with a straightforward proposition: if Rex were ever interested in starting his own MSP, they would be his first customer, no questions asked. That vote of confidence was the foundation on which Securiv was built.

With an anchor client secured before the doors even opened, Rex incorporated the company, assembled the core infrastructure, and got to work. That founding story speaks to something central to Securiv’s identity: the company doesn’t grow through aggressive marketing or commoditized contracts. It grows through relationships; relationships built on competence, reliability, and trust that outlast any service agreement.

What Makes Securiv Different

Securiv operates with a deliberately focused philosophy: serve businesses that take security seriously, and serve them exceptionally well. On the technology side, Securiv offers only what it considers best-in-class security tools. The company’s stack includes Avanan Advanced Mail Protection, SentinelOne endpoint security, FortiGate firewalls, and deep expertise in configuring Microsoft 365 and cloud environments. There are no compromises on cost or convenience; if a product doesn’t meet Securiv’s security standards, it isn’t offered to clients.

On the service delivery side, Securiv has deliberately departed from the conventional MSP help desk model. At most managed service providers, a client’s first point of contact is a generalist help desk agent who triages the issue before escalating it through layers of support. At Securiv, front-line calls and emails go directly to the technical team responsible for that client’s infrastructure. Clients get fast, contextually relevant help from the people who actually know their environment, not a ticket number and a callback window. This structure reflects a deeper conviction: that genuine integration between an MSP and its clients is what makes managed services truly effective. Securiv isn’t looking to be a vendor at arm’s length; it aims to be a true operational partner, embedded deeply enough to anticipate problems before they become incidents.

A Growing Company with a Long-Term Vision

Securiv is growing, and notably, that growth has been driven primarily by word of mouth and by past clients and colleagues who have sought out Rex and his team based on prior experience working together. In an industry where managed service providers compete aggressively for new business, Securiv’s pipeline tells a different story; one where reputation and relationships do the heavy lifting. The company is actively onboarding new clients this year and building out its outbound sales function to support the next phase of expansion. Still, the foundation on which growth is built is trust earned long before Securiv existed.

A Trusted Partner for the Modern Business Landscape

For Canadian business leaders evaluating their IT security posture, the managed services market can feel overwhelming. The providers are numerous, the pitches are polished, and the stakes are high. What Securiv Solutions offers is something that cannot be manufactured through marketing: a founder with genuine, senior-level experience managing complex IT environments at scale, a team that treats client infrastructure with the same care as their own, and a track record of relationships that speak for themselves.

Security isn’t a feature at Securiv; it’s the foundation on which everything is built. And for the businesses that partner with them, that makes all the difference. Learn more about Securiv’s tech solutions and services by visiting their official website here.
