ERA Environmental Management Solutions: Leading the Sustainable Business Revolution
ERA Environmental Management Solutions, led by co-founders and co-CEOs Sarah Sajedi and Gary Vegh and represented by managing partner Abha Joshi, earned the title of Sustainable Business of the Year at the CanadianSME Awards 2022 ceremony, held May 5th in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
This distinction, which recognizes individuals and organizations that prioritize eco-friendly approaches to technology and progress, rewarded ERA’s efforts at reducing the environmental impact of their operations and that of their clients. The company made developments to its Sustainability software aimed at empowering industrial companies to aggregate their CO2 emissions and/or track standard sustainability parameters of their choosing, that way providing them with a platform to identify where and how to reduce their footprint. Post-COVID, ERA conducted its own analysis and decided to transition to a hybrid work model that has significantly reduced their emissions from commuting, heating, and lighting and, as a result, minimized their overhead. For these reasons, ERA stood out among the impressive group of nominees as a small business willing to make the adjustments required from their commitment to sustainability.

ERA has grown from a small consulting firm to one of the leading environmental management software on the market. In the span of over 28 years, they have diversified their audience to service every manufacturing industry, including clients interested solely in Sustainability tracking, and devoted considerable resources to Sustainability research and other small-scale biodiversity efforts, such as installing beehives and bat refuges outside their offices. Their dedication and principled software development standards have ultimately earned them the trust and recognition of numerous Fortune 500 and 100 companies, including large-scale OEMs like General Motors, Toyota, and Stellantis.
The company and its leaders hope to continue paving the way for small business across North America to join hands in the adoption of more sustainable business practices, both in their product and service offerings and throughout their business infrastructures.
