Unveiling Innovation and Collaboration: NSERC Collaborative Research and Development Grants

Small Business Canada

The convergence of creative minds and the pooling of resources to address intractable problems is a fertile ground for innovation. The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) recognizes the value of teamwork by providing funding for Collaborative Research and Development (CRD). These funds encourage collaboration between universities and businesses, which in turn propels innovation and paves the road for practical solutions. As the CRD grant application evaluation process comes to a close, NSERC would like to thank all applicants for their patience and reiterate its commitment to funding innovative research.

With the completion of the CRD grant application assessment process, NSERC would like to express its deepest gratitude to all applicants. NSERC assessed each application with the same level of care, despite receiving an unprecedented number of them. All submissions were carefully reviewed thanks to the dedicated work of the assessment staff.

Dedication to Existing Funding:

When it comes to previously issued CRD funds and grants given in partnership with the Department of National Defence (DND), NSERC guarantees that all obligations will be fulfilled in accordance with the original terms and circumstances. This dedication supports the sustainability of current initiatives, allowing them to further scientific progress and have a positive influence on society.

Opening the Floodgates to Creativity and Teamwork:

NSERC’s CRD funding facilitates partnerships across disciplines and the transfer of expertise from universities to businesses. Collaborations like this help businesses and communities throughout Canada find novel answers to pressing problems. NSERC encourages cooperation between academics and businesses so that they may jointly advance the state of knowledge and stimulate economic development.

The organization’s Collaborative Research and Development Funds foster innovation and industry-academia collaboration. NSERC supports new research and honours previously granted funding despite a considerable increase in submissions. They also finance the research community as it creates new routes and revolutionary solutions, recognizing the enormous influence that joint efforts may have on crafting a better future.
