International Women’s Day is an interesting time to reflect, especially in light of this year’s theme #breakthebias. I am an immigrant, one who was brought to this country at a young age by amazing parents. Parents who toiled so that their children could have the life they couldn’t. Parents who taught me that education, hard work and curiosity would carry me far. This is what I think about when asked to deliver a message to women on this day of celebration. I give you the advice that my parents gave me: in Canada your intelligence, curiosity, and drive are what will carry you to great heights. When given an opportunity, grab it and find your passion within it. Passion will bring you satisfaction and joy in both your career and life. Happy International Women’s Day!
