Your journey began with a personal battle with cystic acne. How did that experience shape your vision and philosophy for Essence of L Medi Spa?
My battle with cystic acne lasted over 15 years and was an emotional and physical struggle. I spent years trying every solution I could think of – from prescription medications to over-the-counter products, only to feel frustrated by the lack of results. This experience became the foundation of my passion for skincare. Through trial and error, and relentless research, I came to understand what my skin truly needed.
Essence of L began as a deeply personal mission to create effective, skin-safe products that did not force a trade-off between clearing acne and addressing other concerns like pigmentation and aging. My philosophy is simple: skincare solutions should work in harmony with your skin, not against it. As a female entrepreneur in a competitive industry, what challenges have you faced, and what advice would you give to other women striving to build their own businesses?
The skincare industry is competitive, and being a female entrepreneur brings its own set of challenges. One of the biggest hurdles early on was being taken seriously. I was young when I started Essence of L, and some questioned whether I had the experience to run a business. I was also navigating the financial challenges of starting from scratch, but that taught me to be resourceful and persistent.
My advice to other women is to be prepared to advocate for yourself confidently. Develop a clear vision, do your homework, and don’t hesitate to seek support – whether it is mentorship, partnerships, or financial advice. One lesson I have learned is that resilience builds strength. There will be inevitable setbacks, but how you adapt and pivot will ultimately define your success.
With 20 years of success behind Essence of L, what do you attribute to your brand’s staying power, and how has your upcoming rebrand revitalized your vision for the future?
Reaching 20 years is something I am incredibly proud of. The staying power of Essence of L comes down to authenticity. I created this brand because I needed these products and treatments myself. That authenticity translates into passion, and I truly believe in what we offer. We do not just offer treatments; we take the time to build relationships. Clients aren’t just names in a database to us – they are people we care about, and that’s reflected in the experience we provide.
Our upcoming rebrand was inspired by our client-first philosophy. We wanted the brand to reflect our dedication to empowering individuals through personalized and results-driven care. This exciting new chapter has reminded us of who we are at our core and helped us position ourselves for reinvigorated and sustainable growth moving forward.
Looking ahead, what exciting innovations or expansions can clients expect from Essence of L Medi Spa in the next 20 years?
There is so much to look forward to! We are working on expanding our EOL Medical Skincare™️ line with new products that address more specific skin concerns, while maintaining our commitment to being acne-safe.
On the treatment side, we are exploring new technologies that align with our mission to deliver exceptional results. Whether it’s advancements in laser treatments, microneedling, or skin rejuvenation technologies, our goal is to remain at the forefront of the industry.
But perhaps what excites me most is building a stronger community around Essence of L. We are creating more opportunities to educate and connect with our clients, whether through workshops, social media, or exclusive events. The next 20 years will be about celebrating our clients as much as our skincare innovations – because without them, none of this would be possible.
