International Women’s Day arrives at a pivotal moment for Canada’s small business landscape. This year’s theme, ‘Give to Gain,’ perfectly captures the spirit of the entrepreneurial community. In my role at Mastercard, I see daily how the success of women-owned businesses is compounded when we prioritize mentorship, collaboration and the reciprocal sharing of resources. When we invest in one woman, we aren’t just supporting an individual. We are strengthening a network that drives our entire economy forward.
Generosity in business isn’t just a moral choice. It’s a growth strategy. By sharing our ‘know-how’ and networks, we create an ecosystem and community where everyone can thrive. At Mastercard, we are putting this philosophy into action through the Mastercard Small Business Fund. Now in its fourth year, the fund provides $10,000 grants, tailored mentorship, and critical resources to help women entrepreneurs overcome financing hurdles and scale their impact. This year’s fund will launch in March, and I encourage any female small business owner to apply.
By giving through these platforms, we gain a more resilient, innovative and equitable business world. To the women entrepreneurs leading the way: your hustle fuels our innovation, and we are proud to stand with you as you turn your vision into reality.
