What inspired you to write Strong, Sane & Sassy, and how does it reflect your journey in holistic health and self-discovery?

Experiencing their devastating loss, I heartbreakingly witnessed the unraveling  of my adored younger brother and beloved big sister’s health and life. This unspeakable  grief ignited a passion within me to understand true whole health. I set out to study nursing at Ohio State University and there I gained incredible knowledge about the powerful ability and intelligence of the human body. As I worked as an R.N.in various fields, I became disillusioned with the sick care model of our medical system. I wanted to get to the truth about real health, where it originates, how we sustain our health, and how our individual choices determine and shape our health.

Through years of study and personal growth, I discovered that true health is an intricate balance of the mind, body, and spirit—rooted at the cellular level and reflected in the choices we make every day. Strong, Sane & Sassy is a result of my professional experience, relentless science backed research and study, and personal transformation. It equips women with practical tools to understand their bodies, listen to their God given voice, and align their lifestyle habits  with their  core values. This book is a roadmap to a vibrant full life where women and men live integrated with true foundational health in every part of their being, generation after generation.

Can you elaborate on the role of Christian yoga in supporting spiritual connection and emotional release, particularly for women navigating modern health challenges?

Christian yoga is a powerful practice that strengthens both the body and the spirit, offering women a way to honor the intricate, magnificent design of their bodies as gifts from God. This practice helps women build stronger muscles, improve balance, and increase flexibility while releasing tension and regaining true clarity within.

Through intentional poses and breathing, women develop a closer, more truthful relationship with themselves, understanding how their body works and what it needs. Whether it’s tuning into the nervous system to shift from stress to rest or sensing physical tension in the musculoskeletal system, yoga teaches women to listen to their bodies with care and compassion.

In Strong, Sane & Sassy, I encourage women to embrace their bodies as gifts from God. Christian yoga becomes a tool to strengthen the physical body, quiet the mind, and connect deeply with Gods deep personal love and power, enabling women to live with grace, strength, and authenticity.

How can women better align their habits with their core values to achieve mental, physical, and spiritual well-being?

Aligning habits with core values starts with tuning into your body’s signals and clarifying what truly matters. In Strong, Sane & Sassy, I outline practical tools for women to create sustainable habits, including:

Sensing Your Body Signals: Pay attention to what your body is telling you. For example, if you notice gut discomfort or fatigue, it might indicate a need to evaluate your nutrition or rest patterns.

Training Your Thoughts: Replace negative self-talk with affirming truths and wise principles daily. Scripture, journaling, and choosing healthy input filled with grace/truth into your everyday thoughts  can shift your mindset in powerful ways.

Nutrition and Hydration: View food as fuel for your body’s unique needs. Keep it simple—focus on whole foods, proper hydration, and eating mindfully to nourish both body and mind.

Exercise and Movement: Start small and focus on consistency. Whether it’s a daily walk, stretching, or dancing to your favorite song, find movement that brings you joy and build from there.

Setting achievable goals is also key. Start by identifying one habit that aligns with your values and commit to it. Small, consistent changes lead to profound transformation over time, creating a ripple effect that aligns every area of life with what matters most.

Your book emphasizes breaking free from shame and embracing meaningful self-care. What are some practical steps women can take to reconnect with their bodies and prioritize self-care?

Breaking free from shame begins with compassionate self-reflection, getting HONEST with ourselves about why we are dismissing our own body’s needs and signals.   From there, giving ourself permission to prioritize nourishing our own body and soul well. Seeing that self-care is essential, not selfish.. Practical steps from Strong, Sane & Sassy include:

Listen to Your Body: Pause throughout the day to notice how you feel—tense, energized, or fatigued? This builds awareness of patterns like stress triggers or poor sleep habits that may need attention.

Deep Breathing and Prayer: Use intentional breathwork to calm your nervous system, shift from fight-or-flight to rest-and-restore mode, and invite God’s peace into your heart.

Get Outside and Move: Movement doesn’t need to be complicated. Walk, jog, or do something you love that keeps your body active and your mind refreshed. Build consistency, starting small and adding more as you go.

Nourish and Hydrate: Fuel your body with whole foods and adequate hydration to support energy, focus, and emotional stability.

Set Goals and Celebrate Wins: Focus on achievable milestones and celebrate progress, however small. This helps build momentum and fosters a positive relationship with your body and self-care habits.

Self-care is about embracing your body as a gift from God and learning to care for it with intention and gratitude. From this place, we live life full, not half empty and drained, using our unique gifts from God to serve those we love around us wholeheartedly. 😊

As someone with expertise in holistic wellness, what advice would you offer to women seeking to balance their faith, health, and personal growth in today’s fast-paced world?

Balancing faith, health, and personal growth starts with surrendering the idea of perfection. Instead of striving to do it all, focus on living intentionally. Here are a few principles I teach my clients:

Seek Community: Surround yourself with people who encourage you in your faith and wellness journey. We’re not meant to do this alone.

  • Anchor Your Day in Faith: Begin and end each day with prayer or Scripture to keep God at the center of your decisions. Spend one to two minutes meditating on your wellness vision for your health.
  • Prioritize What Truly Matters: Identify one to three health habits you can realistically commit to every day —like drinking more water or moving your body daily. Review your top two goals daily.
  • Embrace Rest: Rest isn’t a luxury; it’s a commandment. Honor your need for Sabbath moments, whether that’s a quiet walk or an evening off social media.
