In 2017, David began working for Raintree Woodworking in British Columbia, making upscale dining tables for Once a Tree furniture store in Vancouver. David had free access to exotic and perfectly good cut-off woods which were being burned, so at first, he took those cut-offs home to warm their house in the winter months.
One day he came across some very expensive strips of mahogany, black walnut, and kingwood, which he was about to burn, and had the idea to save them and make a simple cutting board for their home. From that idea grew the assorted pattern of kitchenware cutting boards.
They began to create unique products from the random cut-off wood from his workplace that contained various wood species. This became one of their core values by creating sustainable kitchens and homewares in all of their assorted designs.
